Ballon Dor Football Academy

Here at Ballon Dor Football Academy, we share and fully endorse The FA's Code of Respect. We believe everyone has a responsibility to create a positive and inclusive sporting environment.
Adult players play a crucial role in fostering a respectful atmosphere. We expect all adult players to adhere to our code of conduct, which emphasises treating teammates, opponents, and match officials with respect.

Code of Conduct for Adult Players

We value fair play and respectful behaviour on and off the field. Here's what we expect from our adult players:

  • Play by the Rules: We encourage good sportsmanship and adherence to the game's rules. Celebrate victories in a gracious manner, and respect the spirit of the game in both wins and losses.
  • Respect All Participants: Treat everyone involved in the game with dignity and respect, including teammates, opponents, coaches, match officials, and spectators.
  • Accepting Decisions: Avoid public criticism of match officials. Their decisions are final, and we expect players to abide by them.
  • Win or Lose with Grace: Maintain composure in victory and defeat. Shake hands with opponents and officials at the end of the game, demonstrating good sportsmanship regardless of the outcome.
  • Mind Your Language: Be mindful of the potential impact of your language on others. Refrain from using abusive or offensive language.
  • Positive Interactions: Bullying and intimidating behaviour are unacceptable. We encourage positive interactions with everyone involved in the sport.

Code of Conduct: Potential Consequences

We believe most concerns can be addressed through open communication. However, if a player breaches this code of conduct, the following potential consequences may apply:

  • Mediation and Apology: In some cases, mediation may be facilitated to help resolve the issue. A player may be asked to apologise to the person(s) they have disrespected.
  • Formal Warnings: Formal warnings may be issued for breaches of the code.
  • Educational Opportunities: The player may be required to attend relevant educational courses provided by The FA to enhance their understanding of sportsmanship and respect.
  • Playing Time Restrictions: Depending on the severity of the offence, playing time may be restricted, including being dropped, substituted, or suspended from training sessions.
  • Selection Considerations: Breaches of the code may be considered during team selection processes.
  • Disciplinary Action by the Club: The club may impose disciplinary sanctions in accordance with the player's contract.
  • Removal from the Club: In serious cases, a player may be asked to leave the club and/or issued a fine.
