We believe in creating a positive and enjoyable environment for everyone involved in football. That's why we fully support The FA's Respect Code of Conduct. This code outlines the principles of sportsmanship and fair play that we all agree to uphold:

  • Respect for Everyone: We treat everyone involved in the game with respect, on and off the field. This includes players, coaches, referees, officials, spectators, and parents/carers.
  • Playing Fair: We strive to uphold the rules of the game and encourage others to do the same. This means celebrating the spirit of football and maintaining high standards of behaviour.
  • Supporting the Referee: We respect the referee's decisions, even if we disagree. We encourage players to do the same and avoid entering the field of play without permission.
  • Positive Communication: We avoid offensive, insulting, or abusive language or behaviour. Instead, we focus on positive communication and graciousness in victory and defeat.
  • Respecting Our Surroundings: We take care of the facilities we use, both at home and away games.

Creating a Positive Experience for Players

The FA's Respect Code of Conduct outlines key principles for those working with players:

  • Player Well-being First: The well-being, safety, and enjoyment of each player is our top priority.
  • Zero Tolerance for Bullying: We will never tolerate any form of bullying or abusive behaviour towards players.
  • Age-Appropriate Activities: We ensure all activities are tailored to the age and abilities of the players involved.
  • Collaboration for Player Development: We work closely with other professionals, such as officials, doctors, welfare officers, and physiotherapists, to ensure the best interests of each player are always met.
  • Safeguarding Knowledge: We are committed to ongoing learning and development. This includes familiarising ourselves with safeguarding practices, reviewing The FA's guidance on physical contact (5.6), and Acceptable Behaviours When Working With Young People (5.7) documents, both accessible on the EnglandFootball.com safeguarding section.

Consequences for Breaches

Supportive Measures: In some cases, you may be required to meet with a member of the club committee, league official, or the Welfare Officer. These meetings are intended to provide support and guidance to help you understand and uphold the code in the future.

Temporary Suspension: For more serious breaches, the club may temporarily suspend you from attending matches. This allows for a period of reflection and ensures everyone's safety and enjoyment of the game.

County FA Action: The County FA may also take disciplinary action, including suspension or fines.

Removal from Role or License Withdrawal: In the most serious cases, breaches could lead to removal from your role within the club or even withdrawal of your licence (if applicable).
